Stacking Internet Polls

You may or may not know this: The sites that take votes for polls attempt to prevent one person from running up the numbers by looking at your IP address, which to make a very long lecture short, is a unique number assigned to each PC. However, most people don’t understand how IP addresses work and that often they are not fixed at all, by using DHCP. I understand this stuff for professional reasons.  All they had to do was go to a campus or someplace with a large computer lab to get around the IP blocker on the internet polling. The polling sites won’t block the routers or gateways at college campuses or any other place with a large network because it defeats the purpose of even putting up the poll by blocking millions of people. And the little programs or macros that they have running which filter out duplicates don't work because more times than not all they have is the IP of the router or gateway.  So they are stuck in a paradox so to speak. Close off campuses and large networks from polling, or stop polling…. OR do what they do now and just leave it alone.

This is how they stack internet polls, or at least one of the easy ways. That, and a few people on the phones, can work wonders if they are persistent and have the right numbers to call.

Update 5/16/07 3:23pm CST:
I want to add that Democrats can vote in internet polls too.  This could also explain the support for Ron Paul.  And, some polling software use the cookies stored by your browser to see if you've voted or not.  All they had to do was delete.  Thanks to The Cajun Maverick for reminding me.
